Fashioned entirely from recycled materials, Jakob and his troll companions are extraordinary public art installations that weave a captivating tale of nature conservation and reverence for the land and waterways.

Standing tall at a majestic 14 feet, Jakob watches over the trail, casting his gaze upon passersby. Notably, he is the first troll to boast a ponytail, its band crafted by the Snoqualmie Tribe, honoring their cultural heritage. Draped in a necklace of birdhouses, Jakob extends a warm invitation to forest creatures, beckoning them to share in his sanctuary.

Jakob Two Trees is just one of six trolls scattered throughout the region, each with its own unique story to tell. From Bainbridge Island to Ballard, Seattle, and beyond to Portland, Vashon Island, and West Seattle, these trolls are the brainchild of Danish environmental artist, Thomas Dambo. Drawing from his Nordic roots and childhood folklore, Dambo infuses these whimsical giants with a modern twist, forming part of the "Way of the Bird King" themed project that spans the Pacific Northwest.
